Sadly, October has come to a close. But November is here and that means it’s time to make some more goals!

October was an interesting month. Lots of shit went down. Like my birthday. But writing wise…it wasn’t as awesome as I had predicted. But I mean…you live and you learn, right?

I’m definitely ready for a fresh month!

Firstly, if you didn’t see last month’s goals, check them out. I’ll touch on them here and then go over some new ones I have for November.

Here are last month’s goals and how I did with them:

(X)  Goal #1 – Write 8k a week

Yeah. I only had one goal but it was a pretty lofty one. In case you’re wondering, no. I did not write 8k words a week. But to be fair, I didn’t REALLY think I would hit this anyway. I like to make large goals just to make sure I’m progressing.

And that’s fine. I’m not super bummed about it because I’m actually really happy with how my book is going so far. Why rush it?

But now it’s time to make some new goals. Let’s see if I can make these a little more attainable.

Goal #1 – Write 5k words a week

Okay. So I cut it by 3k words a week. It’s still a bit much but if I can just sit and get a few days of 1k+ words, I’ll be good. The main focus here is to just get the words out.

Normally, I edit as I go. Meaning, after I’ve written something, I go back through, make changes, rewrite shit, and you know…edit it. BUT I think I might change tactics here. There are some parts that I have notes for changes that will just take a while to do and I don’t want it to hold me back from getting this draft done.

I just want the story written. To me, I think it’ll make things easier to edit when I have a final product to work with.

So far, my word count is at 14,230 and I just started working on Chapter 4 after adding in a prologue – which was necessary.

And that’s it! I don’t really have any other writing goals. Like I said, my main focus is to get the words out this month. I know Nanowrimo is going on, but I won’t be participating in that. I’m just going to see how much I can write on my own. Who knows? Maybe I’ll hit or surpass 50k all by myself!
